Prisoners of Love: Affect, containment and alternative futures
New Contemporaries 2024
“Free the Obas” series captures the poignant narrative of the British looting in Nigeria in 1879, in which I aim reimagine justice through the lens of screen print. The amalgamation of the Oba’s head with the iconic British Lady Justice statue prompts reflection on historical injustices. Beyond the return of artifacts, in this particular work I am questioning what constitutes true justice.
